As promised here is information about upcoming foodie/drinkie events in the area:
For most of the year Willcox, Arizona is a sleepy little farm community. But come October people gather in historic Railroad Park celebrate the numerous wineries in the area at the Willcox Wine Festival. This Saturday (15th) and Sunday (16th) farm vendors, crafts persons and wineries will offer their wares. Food will be a big part of the picture as will music. More information is available on the website.
Homecoming at the University of Arizona (Saturday October 29th) is always a good time (and not because our team is a winner). A big part of the celebration doesn’t even take place on campus but at Kingfisher restaurant on Grant Road. The annual Oysterfest celebrates all things oyster with a tent out front, a team of oyster shuckers and of course oysters of every ilk flown in from all over the country. Also on the menu, Murph’s original Oysters Storyville, oyster stew, fried oysters…the list goes on. Get there early
The newest autumn evert is 4thtoberfest that celebrates beer, brats and Tucson’s famous 4th Avenue. There will be beer and brats at various venues on the Avenue as well as music and other happenings. The beer, for the most part, is from local breweries with a few outliers thrown in for good measure. Tickets are $15 and include discounts on beer and brats and a souvenir glass. This newbie runs from 1pm-7pm on October 22nd. A portion of the funds raised will benefit KXCI, Tucson’s Community Radio.
