We had three pizzas in Brooklyn, but for now Antonio’s is all that matters.
Located on Flatbush Avenue, this tiny spot is the quintessential Brooklyn pizzeria. Garishly lit, walls adorned with posters of Brooklyn, four guys and a gal working their asses off in a cramped kitchen behind the counter, three delivery guys flashing in and out, in and out. It’s all there and then some.
We ordered our pie and sat down to soak it all in. The line never stopped: customers ranging from suits to sweats, small families and single seniors.. Most people seemed to be ordering pizza either by the slice or whole, although the choices on the menu were plenty. Most people got food to go.
It took all of 15 minutes before our pie arrived in all its greasy glory.
The pepperoni was plentiful, the cheese golden brown and melty, the sauce sang with the rich flavor of tomato and the crust? Just what you want in pizza – crispy and chewy all at once. We ate all but one slice and took that home for breakfast.
I will return to Antonio’s, for sure
