The Carriage House is Coming

Speaking of cooking classes…..Janos Wilder will be conducting a series of cooking classes at his newest venture The Carriage House. . Yes, we’ve talked about this before, bur things are heating up.
Located directly behind his hugely popular, Downtown Kitchen & Cocktails, The Carriage House promises to be the one of the most exciting venues in Tucson.
Janos won’t be the only chef teaching classes; other local chefs will be a part of the program, as well. Special events, unique dinners, private parties are part of the mix. (We’ve talked about having a ‘Lost Restaurants of Tucson’ dinner sometime in April.)
Here is the current schedule with many more to come.
2/27- Janos
3/1- Jerry Alday, DOWNTOWN Kitchen + Cocktails
3/5- Devon Sanner, DOWNTOWN Kitchen + Cocktails, The Carriage House
3/8- Tana Fryer, Blu, & a winemaker (TBD)

3/15- Marianne Banes, King Fisher
3/19- Ryan Clark
3/29- Maria Mazon, Boca Tacos Y Tequila
4/2- Marianne Banes, King Fisher

4/19- Marianne Banes, King Fisher
Devon Sanner, who has been working with Janos for years is the Executive Chef.
The space itself has been a car dealership (many years back) and various art galleries. A state of the art kitchen is being built from the ground up. I got to see the space prior to construction and I thought it was lovely. High ceilings with exposed wooden beams, a hard wood floor, exposed brick and the fine bones of an old, well-built structure add an air of elegance. I know there is plenty of other work to be done and the results should be amazing.
Another especially exciting element to Carriage House is called Dim Sum + Some Brunch. While decidedly Asian influenced, this weekly Sunday meal will bring the flavors of the world together in a convivial, modern way. Many cultures incorporate small plates; it’s only Janos and his team that will be serving them in one place.
The Carriage House opens in February. Watch for updates.
