One of my most favorite foodie events in Tucson takes place next Saturday April 18th at Rillito Park on North First Avenue.
The Viva La Local Food Festival is most aptly named. The event brings together the best of local food and drink in a convivial atmosphere. Thirty or so local restaurants, wineries and breweries will be there. Tastings and hand-crafted drinks are $5.00. Admission is $6 with kids under 12 free. Doors open at 9:00 a.m. and close up around 3:00 p.m.
This year there is a tandem event on Sunday – Cyclovia Tucson.
The food is some of the best that Tucson has to offer. It’s a great way to sample places you’ve been thinking about trying. There’s everything from Frankie’s Philly Cheese Steaks to vegan options from Food for Ascension Cafe. Other options includ Twisted Tandoor Food Truck, Fat Noodle, and It’s Greek To Me (funny name, fabulous food.)
Live music is also part of the mix,
There’s also a farmer’s market (the event is a part of the Heirloom Farmers Markets)
I can’t wait!
